Structure and Variation of Signaling Conventions in Scale-free Networks

چکیده

The signaling game is a game-theoretical model that can depict the dynamics enabling the emergence of semantic meaning that establishes as convention among members of a society. The signaling game alone describes a communicative situation, but by applying it as a repeated game and combining it with update dynamics, a path of the evolution of semantic meaning can be simulated. In this work I will i) combine the repeated signaling game with the update dynamics innovative reinforcement learning, and ii) conduct it on a society of agents arranged in scale-free networks. The simulation runs show not only that multiple regional conventions emerge and stabilize, but also reveal the way these regions are arranged and interact with each other.

Relation Between RNA Sequences, Structures, and Shapes via Variation Networks

Background: RNA plays key role in many aspects of biological processes and its tertiary structure is critical for its biological function. RNA secondary structure represents various significant portions of RNA tertiary structure. Since the biological function of RNA is concluded indirectly from its primary structure, it would be important to analyze the relations between the RNA sequences and t...

Convention and Innovation in Social Networks

To depict the mechanisms that have enabled the emergence of semantic meaning, philosophers and researchers particularly access a game-theoretic model: the signaling game. In this article I will argue that this model is also quite appropriate to analyze not only the emergence of semantic meaning, but also semantic change. In other words, signaling games might help to depict mechanisms of languag...

Emergence of social conventions in complex networks

The emergence of social conventions in multi-agent systems has been analyzed mainly in settings where every agent may interact either with every other agent or with nearest neighbours, according to some regular underlying topology. In this note we argue that these topologies are too simple if we take into account recent discoveries on real networks. These networks, one of the main examples bein...

Study of PKA binding sites in cAMP-signaling pathway using structural protein-protein interaction networks

Backgroud: Protein-protein interaction, plays a key role in signal transduction in signaling pathways. Different approaches are used for prediction of these interactions including experimental and computational approaches. In conventional node-edge protein-protein interaction networks, we can only see which proteins interact but ‘structural networks’ show us how these proteins inter...

Effect of attention direction variation by instructional self-talk on performance and learning of Basketball free throw in young female students

The purpose of present study was investigation of the effect of attention direction variation by instructional self-talk on performance and learning of Basketball free throw. Therefore, 33 novice female students (mean of the age=22 yr.) who had intermediate trait anxiety were selected randomly. The participants were assigned to 3 matched groups according to pretest. The self-talk with internal ...
